About Us

We are a small congregation set in the farmland of Madison County, Kentucky. While our members are diverse with differing backgrounds and experiences, by the grace of God we can come together and worship our Lord and Savior as a family. Indeed, church is more than just coming together once or twice a week to sing songs and hear a sermon. In fact, we firmly believe that Christ established the church to be a family. In the words of Joseph H. Hellerman, “Salvation is becoming a member of God’s family – a family that includes both a new Father and a new set of brothers and sisters. Biblical salvation is a community-creating event.” When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we gain more than just Christ. We also receive a church family! A family who comes along beside us to support, encourage, and strengthen us through the highs and lows of life. If you are searching for a small church to call home, then we invite you to join our family! Come see the amazing things God can do with and for you in a local congregation where everyone is welcome, and everyone has their own unique part to play in the ministry of the church!

What We Believe

The Christian Church was founded by Christ in the 1st Century AD. At that time there were no denominations, and all Christians were brothers and sisters, regardless of who they were or where they resided.

How does this understanding of the church translate to what we believe? We believe that if a Christian holds to the essentials of the Christian faith, then we can disagree on the non-essentials and still commune together as a family. So, what are the essentials?

  1. The Bible is the Holy Word of God, inerrant and infallible in all its teachings. While the Bible does not speak on every aspect of human life, what it does speak on is true. (2 Timothy 3:16) Indeed, if you truly believe and follow the Bible, then it should lead you to the other essentials of the faith.

  2. Who is God? God is Trinity, who existed as one God in three persons as Father, Son, and Spirit. Our Triune God created the heavens, the earth, and everything they contain out of nothing. He is our eternal law maker, and He is the one who determines what is right and wrong.

  3. Who is man? Mankind was created by God as the pinnacle of His creation. We were created in His image and likeness, which means much more than physical attributes! We were created to reflect (image) the love and glory of God to all the world and live a life in communion with God (likeness). Indeed, our true meaning of life can only be found in communion with our Almighty God!

  4. What is sin? Sin is any violation of God’s perfect and divine law. Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve when they were tempted by Satan attempting to usurp God’s authority (Genesis 3). As a result, all of mankind has inherited a corrupted nature and sinful heart. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 6:23). And because of our own sin, we owe God a great debt; one that we cannot pay. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 3:23). Sin then is our own disregard of God’s love and commands, and it leads to eternal death. Mankind’s greatest enemies then are Satan, sin, and death; and these are enemies that we are powerless to defeat on our own.

  5. Who is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity, God the Son who was sent by the Father to take on our humanity in order to defeat Satan, sin, and death once and for all. He accomplished this by not only living a perfect life for us, but also by taking the punishment of death that we deserve on the cross. He suffered, died, and was buried. And on the third day, He rose from the dead in fulfillment of Scripture. He will come again to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. Because of Christ’s perfect sacrifice and our faith in Him, all our sins have been paid for, and we have been redeemed! Those who believe in Christ now have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and have inherited eternal life! “…but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

While much more could be said, we believe these to be the essentials of the Christian faith. Who God is (Father, Son, and Spirit). Who man is (God’s image bearers created to serve and love God). What sin is (sin is any violation of God’s perfect and divine law, in which all humanity is guilty of). Who Jesus Christ is (Jesus Christ is God the Son Incarnate, sent by the Father to redeem us from our fallen estate of sin and death). Finally, how was this all revealed? These essential truths were revealed through God’s Perfect and Holy Word (The Bible) and through the incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ.

If you believe these essential truths of the Christian faith, regardless of what denomination you claim, then we gladly call you a fellow brother or sister in Christ. If you have questions about the Christian faith, then we invite you to join us in our worship and study of God’s Word. Come and see how amazing our God is and how you can only find true meaning in a relationship with Him!
